What brief you are taking? short film or music video We are doing a music video. The style of music and/or artist The style of music is very chilled R&B/ rap which represents the artist also. Your idea for the narrative so far Our idea is to have a music video that switches between two different scenes, one of the scenes being off all of our friends in local venues that we tend to spend time in, such as the playhouse, the birdcage and the bell pub all located in Norwich. The other scene being off the artist in the studio miming his own song. The whole music video should reflect the genre of the song with it being a very chilled and layback song we wanted to show this threw our friends and especially because its our friend Wes' song, we also spoke to him about how he wanted his music portrayed and he also thought that this kind of idea was best because he wanted it to be a very natural easy flowing music video to reflect his song. ANCILLARY TASK 2 PRACTICE  we chose to use our friend Stanley for our ancillary task. in the album cover it shows a very stereotypically perfect woman with very fare and smooth skin and very tidy hair and makeup. despite all of the she does have a black tear next to her eyeliner. taking this into encounter we decided to be contreversial and use a male with a rougher face and broader features to express the stereo-typicalness of tattoos in relation to gender. the tear also shows a sadness from the woman which could be due to her having to conform to societies gender roles in relation to appearance despite her wanting to express her self weather that being in tattoo form or being able to be more flexible with her appearance.

Post 16) Ancillary Task research What makes a film poster/music album cover stand out from others? In what ways can you think of film posters/music album covers linking to the film plot/music video/song themselves? How much of a marketing tool do you consider a film poster and album cover to be? As a consumer, what hints/tips can you give us in regard to making our own posters and/or album covers?

me and eve recreated this mean girls poster using photoshop, we used some of our friends to recreate the poses of the characters and just cut them on top of the original characters. 

November 02, 2017 14 MY PLAN in comparison to post one our ideas for this task have changed throughout. out initial idea was a typical love story gone wrong. we would have used a song, such as James bay let it go and had a man in a room looking at old photos possibly of the couple. we also had the idea of the photos then morphing into the actual memories to create the video and him destroying them to link back to the lyrics of the song. despite liking this idea me and Ciara decided it wasn't really very interesting to us.  during summer, our friend started to produce his own music. after listening to it and really enjoying it we decided that this was what we wanted to base our music video on. the style of music he is producing is more appealing to us which meant we really got into it. our first idea was to have Wes (the artist) just rapping toward the camera to show him and his music off as it would look very natural, but, we decided we wanted to have something more to t...

November 02, 2017 13 MUSIC VIDEO OR SHORT FILM? Personally me and Ciara have chosen to do a music video for our coursework, rather than a short film. after watching a few short films on youtube we came to the realisation that creating one would be very interesting, but in comparison to a music video, not very appealing us. personally what intrigued me the most was a music videos ability to affect the reader without direct narration. by this I mean that the video doesn't have to explain the lyrics but leaves it to the viewer to interpret them. it also allows us to almost, in some circumstances, put a short story into the music video, For example kodaline high hopes.

We managed to get all the filming done quite quickly. The opening scene was filmed on our way to the main location so we got the intro done on the first take which saved us a lot of time and meant that we already had the first 50 seconds of the song covered. Whilst walking to our location, we took a few shots of our actress Liv just walking, which was useful for the parts of the song where there is no singing. Altogether, we went through the song about 8 times until we had all the footage we needed. The first take was still a bit awkward and my two other team members Jess and Evie had to turn away whilst Liv was singing which made it easier for her not to laugh. Singing the song out loud was strange at first, as there were some people passing and looking over, but it definitely helped Liv’s accuracy in lip syncing and made her singing more authentic.
