56- Question 4 Evaluation Task

Image
I used Bubbl.com to make a mind map of all the media technologies i used in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stage. Below is the mind map i made: Planning   Video and ancillary Tasks - For the planning of our video we used a Canon Camera to film and take photos on. We used Blogger.com to post all of our course work and blog posts on to. We used the internet for a big part of the planning such as Google and Twitter. For the preproduction and after production of my music video i used a large amount of media technologies.  Research  Using media technologies for research for our music video and ancillary tasks were a crucial part of being able to actually get some research and research methods. We used things such as social media such as Twitter and WhatsApp to ask our friends and family and in some case complete strangers for different types of research we completed. We used...

55 - Evaluation Question 3

Image
I decided to create a questionnaire on survey monkey and asked my friends and family to complete the short survey for my audience feedback. We have included questions based on the level 4 mark scheme on the music video and ancillary tasks. We have asked a range of people for our target audience so that we can see what a range of people think about our music video even though our target audience is teenage to young adult. By doing this we hope to be able to compare different demographic groups, such as female or male.  The questions i have asked :     We got the results of the questionnaires back:  The questionnaire results show that majority of the people liked our music video, only 22% of people said they did not like it compared to all of the people who participated in  the  questionnaire. The results show that majority of the target audience wer...

54 EVALUATION QUESTION 2 How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary tasks? -        In our final products, we have taken into consideration common themes that expand across the board of music video and ancillary task. After people reviewing our music video, we took time to ask these individuals on what was most memorable within the video, many said that the most eye-catching aspect of the video and ancillary task is the red love heart. This is not only eye-catching but helps with Wes' image in which his audiences associates him with but also links with the topic of his song which Wes sings about. The topic of his songs associates with unity and racism around the world, the love heart acts as a symbol that every individual is appreciated for who they are regardless of culture or race. Due to this we applied audience theory and took into encounter psychographics as peoples attitudes towards Wes' lyrics and the symbol will encourag...

53 - Q1

53 EVALUATION QUESTION 1 Existing media products forms and conventions aim is to show off the members of the band/artist, make the song memorable to the viewers, show viewers what the band/artist is about, represent the band/artist positively and make the genre clear. The genre of the music often plays the biggest part when impacting the forms and conventions of a music video. Due to our music video (of which we presented on YouTube) having the genre of hip hop rap we chose to both follow and break the typical conventions. Due to Wes being a black male rapper often the videos would include violence and hyper masculinity, however, instead we chose to oppose these stereotypes. Having females being the other storyline of the video it not only helps to support Wes’ lyrics of the song (talking about discrimination and unity) but also challenge pre-existing conventions of a male rap music video and make it diverse. The forms and conventions we chose to follow for the video wa...

May 03, 2018 51 FINAL ANCILLARY TASK 1 This is our final ancillary task 1. the order goes from front, back, inside left and inside right. the front and back cover are one image spread over the case. this inside left is a close up of wes, this may also be on the cover of a booklet about him. the inside right are a close up of wes' trainers further helping to make it personal to him.

Notes on discussing the representation of youth in contemporary film and television

Argument 1 - Youth are often represented in accordance or hegemonic notions of adolescence.  Theory - Gramsci Theory - He developed a concept of cultural hegemony , meaning that social class (meaning middle class) dominate in society by normal, natural and common sense.  Social class is just accepted, working class accept oppression in todays society, as it is shown in the media, in films and TV shows. An example of this is Mia in Fishtank   she is working class and accepts that as she acts like a 'typical estate girl' which could give the representation to other working class girls who live on an estate like in the film, that thats the correct way to act, which in reality it is not. It can also be linked to The Cultivation Theory which states that if all these young people are watching and consuming this TV and Film then they are more likely to believe that it is reality. The media usually portrays working class as oppressed by a hegemonic...

50 - Feedback on rough cut

Image
We asked 7 people what they thought of our rough cut video and how they think we can improve it and what is good about it. We asked 4 people in person and the rest over messenger/email Person 1 - They said that they thought the type of music video that it is that the studio bits worked really well and liked the black and white as it made a clear difference between the studio and the city parts. To improve they said that we needed to make the lip syncing a bit more lined up. Person 2- Really liked the concept of the music video and thought it complemented the song choice very well however they thought that we needed to not spend as much time focused in the studio but have more shots of the city parts and the girls swell. Person 3- Really enjoyed the song choice and the black and white concept however they did not understand why for the genre of song it was why the music video was based on 3 girls when stereotypically it should be focused on the rapper and what the rapper does. ...

49 - Rough Cut

Image
ROUGH CUT This is our rough cut of our music video of Unity by Wes.  We still need to improve this by cutting out some of the scenes where people are smoking as it does not look very professional. We also need to make the lip syncing match up more and we need to put some of the footage in to slow motion to make it look more effective.

48 Filming Plan

Image
Wes is coming into school and we are going to film him in the school studio. We are going to use style of artists i have listed below    Obviously we are not going to copy the direct style of Schoolboy Q video of how he is smoking extra in the studio but the angles and how he is shown singing into the actual microphone is the goal we are trying to achieve. Also in Schoolboys Q video is in black and white and we haven't decided if we are going to put the colour into black and white. Ciara and I wanted to do this after we had filmed and started editing.

47 - whilst filming

Image
Whilst we were filming we took some photos, overall the filming was really successful and there was very few bad points, other than the weather, if it had of been a bit of a nicer day we probably would of been able to spend more time outside filming better locations but it was a very cold and rainy day.

46 - Final song choice

Image
The song we are using is one of our friends own song, it is called Soul Sessions. However because it is a new artist song, there has not been a music video made for any of his music yet. Therefore we have nothing to compare to.  The link to the song is below as there is not a music video for it you have to click the link to be able to listen to it.  https://soundcloud.com/ed-wilkins-4  When you click on the link, to find the song you have to scroll down until you see Soul Sessions, below i will attach a screen shot pointing to what you need to look for in order to listen to the song.

41- script/stage directions and synopsis

40 - storyboards

"No changes have been made to the storyboards since the planning post so we are working from that."

39 Final idea

Our final idea is still going with the initial Idea. It involves a large group of our friends and Wesley filming his day to day life. It will be a very chilled music video, expressing the lives of teenagers around the Norfolk area. Our music video doesn't have a direct story line as that was the whole point of our idea, we didn't want to have one as we wanted a very natural, real interpretation of teenage day to day lives. However even though our idea doesn't have a story line, it will show diversity and real accurate examples of current teenage lifestyle.

37 - final ancillary task 2 audience research

Questions Asked Are there any particular album release posters that you remember? For what reason do you remember these? How important is a poster to you deciding whether to buy it? Why? In your opinion what makes a good poster? How much space should the act name and track name take up? Should the image be of the act or a piece of design/art work? Does this depend on whether the act is a soloist or as part of a group/band? Should there be a common theme across the poster and CD cover? Do you like to see a quote and/or star rating? Should the acts social media accounts appear on the poster somewhere? Should the release date and ways of purchasing appear somewhere? Is the choice of font and text colour important?

34- director style

Image
Ciara and I have decided that we want to use the director style of self taught director Georgia Hudson. Our main inspiration is her music video of Loyle Carners hit Isle of Aran. We have decided we want our music video to resemble the quality of hers and as the song is similar, they both have similar  atmosphere 's to them.  Georgia Hudson Georgia is a self-taught director and editor with a background in fine art. She was a huge video contributor to i-D magazine before making a name for herself on the music scene. Georgia's love of dance, fashion and colour is evident is in her work making her videos vibrant and capricious of the moment. Parts of her music videos that have inspired on our ideas the most:
