  • The style of music is very chilled R&B/ rap which represents the artist also.
  • Your idea for the narrative so far
  • Our idea is to have a music video that switches between two different scenes, one of the scenes being off all of our friends in local venues that we tend to spend time in, such as the playhouse, the birdcage and the bell pub all located in Norwich. The other scene being off the artist in the studio miming his own song. The whole music video should reflect the genre of the song with it being a very chilled and layback song we wanted to show this threw our friends and especially because its our friend Wes' song, we also spoke to him about how he wanted his music portrayed and he also thought that this kind of idea was best because he wanted it to be a very natural easy flowing music video to reflect his song.




  • Your idea for the performance elements so far
As of performance ideas so far, there is no strict rules on how we want our cast to act. As previously said we want our cast to act like they are not even being filmed as that way we feel it will look more natural and more professional. The only part of performance is when Wes will be mining his song in a studio, but even then it will still be very natural and normal no forced performance as that is not the style of music video we are going for and it would not appeal to our target audience.

  • Obviously are friend Wesley is the main guy that the video is surrounded about, however due to the style of the music video it is hard to say who exactly is going to be there as we are going to film it on a Saturday when we know that all of our friends will be available in the city.

  • Research you have done into existing short films or music videos and how that has affected your decision making process so far.
  • Whilst looking at existing music videos and comparing them to the genre of the music video we decided we wanted to use a style like Loyle Carner as his music is of a very similar genre to Wes's song. Below are some of the music videos that helped make our decision of the type of music video we wanted to achieve.




  • Anything you desperately want to avoid
  • Something we desperately wanted to avoid was a main story element, we don't want a sole story to the music video as we think that is too cliche and we think it won't appeal to our target audience. Ciara and I also believe that the genre of music if we filmed a proper story line it would not be compatible with the song.




  • How your work is going to be creative and original
Our work is going to be very original as no music video has ever be made for this song before, we will use existing ideas from the music video links above but the style and filming and ideas will be completely our own.

Post 12 evaluation

We managed to get all the filming done quite quickly. The opening scene was filmed on our way to the main location so we got the intro done on the first take which saved us a lot of time and meant that we already had the first 50 seconds of the song covered. Whilst walking to our location, we took a few shots of our actress Liv just walking, which was useful for the parts of the song where there is no singing. Altogether, we went through the song about 8 times until we had all the footage we needed. The first take was still a bit awkward and my two other team members Jess and Evie had to turn away whilst Liv was singing which made it easier for her not to laugh. Singing the song out loud was strange at first, as there were some people passing and looking over, but it definitely helped Liv’s accuracy in lip syncing and made her singing more authentic.
