30 props

Image
We have decided to use as little props as possible, one so that we can spend money on other things and also we don't want our music video to look pre planned. However in the song there are actual lyrics about drinks such as a pint or red wine so we are planning to have them on the table when filming in the bars. Also due to the genre of the song there is a lot about smoking so we will be using cigarettes, which fits in with he song.

COSTUME AND MAKEUP Wesley will be wearing his own clothes for the music video. His style is common street wear, with things such as designer trainers, jumpers, t-shirts, coats and jeans. He will be wearing his own clothes due to the genre of music and nature of the song being very representative of him.  Below are a list of photographs similar to what Wesley will wear:

We have not yet auditioned Wesley, but the link above is the song we will be using for our music video.

27 PLANNING SETTING  Very urban locations will fit in well with our music video. places that are slightly edgy and for younger generations too. The genre of the song also would not fit in with anywhere other than an urban city area. Also the fact that our artist is using his own song, he himself said he would only feel comfortable filming somewhere he felt he knew and with people he knew as he feels like it would more accurately represent the song.

The plan is that on Saturday 20th of January we are going to meet Wesley in the city to film some footage of the city filming. On this day we plan to film our friends and Wesley in the city at the playhouse, the birdcage, the bell and places like this that we like to hang out with our friends. It will be a very chilled atmosphere in the video as that is like the genre of the song.  We have yet to contact the venues of the places we want to film, however we will email or go into the places during next week and when we have done so i will attach a screen shot or pictures on to my blog.  On a further date we will film Wes personally rapping his music, in a  studio, probably in school if we are unable to contact anyone else who has a studio, as the music video style is going to flip between him in the city with our friends and him in a studio. When we come to actually filming it the plan is that when we film our friends th...

December 06, 2017 24 AUDIENCE RESEARCH VIDEO 1

23

What are you trying to find out in your audience research? In our audience research we are trying to find out what type of music people consume, whether or not people consume music videos, if they do then what they will watch them on, whether it being YouTube or the television. We are also trying to find out what age groups are more likely to consume music videos. Even though Ciara and I have an idea of the age group we are targeting with our music video, we feel it is necessary to go out somewhere, like our local town Wymondham and ask people of a variety of ages what they consume music videos on. We also want to find out whether people of different age groups like our idea and if they think we could improve on it in any way. What questions are you going to ask to get these answers? The questions we are going to ask are listed below: 1. What genre of music do you prefer? 2. Do you watch music videos? 3. If you do, how would you usually consume music videos? 4.How do you ...

22 forms and conventions

Forms and Conventions of our music video. The forms and conventions of a professional music video include many different aspects of video making which we'll try to conform to, but also challenge in some areas. In terms of camera angles, professionally made music videos tend to use a range of different shots such as close-ups, long-shots and mid-shots which all help create emphasis on the singer or band, the location they are in and the emotions their song is trying to bring across. Camera movements such as tilts, pans, tracking an crane shots all help follow and trace the artist. Most music videos have the performance of the artist as the main part of the video, sometimes a story is added to the performance, either enacted by an actor or the artist themselves. The transition between storyline and the performance of the artist is often created through the use of jump cuts or fade and dissolve effects, which allow sudden changes from one scene to another. Besides the filming and e...

Georgia Hudson has gone from low budget music videos to being a directorial force to be reckoned with in both the music and commercial worlds. With huge names like Mø and Ellie Goulding already in her videography, the only logical place for her to go now was BIG. So, it should come as no surprise to you that her latest video for Alecia Beth Moore - better known as P!nk – is a massive, sprawling dance trip full of ambitious set pieces and a raw, emotional physicality that’s hard to top. Georgia Hudson is a very edgy artist, she appeals heavily to the same age group we are targeting.  We asked a few of our friends there thoughts on Georgia Hudson and her directing style

20 FINAL PRACTICE VIDEO TASK PLANNING We have been put into working groups and given a choice of songs to choose from. Our task was to create 1 minute of original footage for a music video and make this footage either in one take, or in the style of director Wes Anderson. video upload of the song we have chosen video upload of the final outcome we have created Most film directors tend to shy away from placing their actors in the center of the frame, but Wes Anderson has developed his distinctive style of filmmaking around a fascination with symmetry. S ignature moves like his idiosyncratic use of zooms and dolly shots, symmetry in composition,  ornate pastel-coloured sets, storybook worlds, and jump cuts  make him so unique. “I have a way of filming things and staging them and designing sets. There were times when I thought I should change my approach, but in fact, this is what I like to do. It's sort of like my handwriting as...

What brief you are taking? short film or music video We are doing a music video. The style of music and/or artist The style of music is very chilled R&B/ rap which represents the artist also. Your idea for the narrative so far Our idea is to have a music video that switches between two different scenes, one of the scenes being off all of our friends in local venues that we tend to spend time in, such as the playhouse, the birdcage and the bell pub all located in Norwich. The other scene being off the artist in the studio miming his own song. The whole music video should reflect the genre of the song with it being a very chilled and layback song we wanted to show this threw our friends and especially because its our friend Wes' song, we also spoke to him about how he wanted his music portrayed and he also thought that this kind of idea was best because he wanted it to be a very natural easy flowing music video to reflect his song. Your idea for the performance element...

ANCILLARY TASK 2 PRACTICE  we chose to use our friend Stanley for our ancillary task. in the album cover it shows a very stereotypically perfect woman with very fare and smooth skin and very tidy hair and makeup. despite all of the she does have a black tear next to her eyeliner. taking this into encounter we decided to be contreversial and use a male with a rougher face and broader features to express the stereo-typicalness of tattoos in relation to gender. the tear also shows a sadness from the woman which could be due to her having to conform to societies gender roles in relation to appearance despite her wanting to express her self weather that being in tattoo form or being able to be more flexible with her appearance.

Post 16) Ancillary Task research What makes a film poster/music album cover stand out from others? In what ways can you think of film posters/music album covers linking to the film plot/music video/song themselves? How much of a marketing tool do you consider a film poster and album cover to be? As a consumer, what hints/tips can you give us in regard to making our own posters and/or album covers?

November 02, 2017 14 MY PLAN in comparison to post one our ideas for this task have changed throughout. out initial idea was a typical love story gone wrong. we would have used a song, such as James bay let it go and had a man in a room looking at old photos possibly of the couple. we also had the idea of the photos then morphing into the actual memories to create the video and him destroying them to link back to the lyrics of the song. despite liking this idea me and Ciara decided it wasn't really very interesting to us.  during summer, our friend started to produce his own music. after listening to it and really enjoying it we decided that this was what we wanted to base our music video on. the style of music he is producing is more appealing to us which meant we really got into it. our first idea was to have Wes (the artist) just rapping toward the camera to show him and his music off as it would look very natural, but, we decided we wanted to have something more to t...

November 02, 2017 13 MUSIC VIDEO OR SHORT FILM? Personally me and Ciara have chosen to do a music video for our coursework, rather than a short film. after watching a few short films on youtube we came to the realisation that creating one would be very interesting, but in comparison to a music video, not very appealing us. personally what intrigued me the most was a music videos ability to affect the reader without direct narration. by this I mean that the video doesn't have to explain the lyrics but leaves it to the viewer to interpret them. it also allows us to almost, in some circumstances, put a short story into the music video, For example kodaline high hopes.

We managed to get all the filming done quite quickly. The opening scene was filmed on our way to the main location so we got the intro done on the first take which saved us a lot of time and meant that we already had the first 50 seconds of the song covered. Whilst walking to our location, we took a few shots of our actress Liv just walking, which was useful for the parts of the song where there is no singing. Altogether, we went through the song about 8 times until we had all the footage we needed. The first take was still a bit awkward and my two other team members Jess and Evie had to turn away whilst Liv was singing which made it easier for her not to laugh. Singing the song out loud was strange at first, as there were some people passing and looking over, but it definitely helped Liv’s accuracy in lip syncing and made her singing more authentic. We then went through the song a second time because Liv was still a bit shy the first time and we wanted more expression an...

Little miss sunshine By anyone's standards, the Hoover family consists of some decidedly odd characters. There's Richard (Greg Kinnear), a motivational speaker whose career downslide is starting to give the lie to his own philosophy; his wife Sheryl (Toni Collette), who's losing patience with both his crisis and their marriage; their teenage son Dwayne, who worships Nietzsche and has taken a vow of silence until he's old enough to become a fighter pilot; Sheryl's brother Frank (Steve Carell), a Proust scholar who lost a MacArthur grant and his lover but failed in his attempt to lose his life; Grandpa (Alan Arkin), who's been kicked out of his nursing home for snorting heroin; and Olive (Abigail Breslin), Richard and Sheryl's seven- year-old daughter, who isn't going to let a little weight problem get in the way of her winning the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. She's been rehearsing her talent programmed with Grandpa and seems sure to win, so the fa...
